- I was inspired to design a tee that promotes environmental bee awareness after reading that the honeybee population has been declining since 2008. All bees are important because they cross-pollinate most of our crops. Without bees, there would likely be a shortage of food! Some reasons for the decline, especially for native bees, include temperature changes and farming practices. So far, the honeybee population is not on the endangered list because of domesticated hives, but we must still continue to do what we can to help all the bee populations. Plant bee-friendly plants such as hostas, coneflowers, and zinnias, among others.
